Day 3. Falkland Islands

Days 5 - 8. South Georgia
Our South Georgia landings are mostly along the northeast coast. We'll see: the world's largest king penguin rookeries, wandering albatross on nests, beaches of elephant and fur seals, macaroni and rockhopper penguin colonies, walking Shackleton's route from Fortuna Bay to Stromness and visiting Grytviken's whaling museum. BLD all days
Day 9. South Georgia - Antarctica Peninsula
Sailing south, we look out for great whales and possibly our first icebergs! BLD
Days 10- 11. Transit to the Orkney Islands
If pack ice allows, we go ashore in the dramatic South Orkney Islands, then across whale-rich waters to Elephant Island, hoping to take Zodiacs near Point Wild, where Shackleton's men wintered over. BLD both days
Days 12 - 14. South Shetlands
After visiting the South Shetlands, we sail overnight down Gerlache Strait, awakening to the thrill of Antarctica! Weather and ice permitting, we'll visit busy penguin rookeries, historic sites and make a continental landing. BLD all days
Days 15 - 16. Transit to Ushuaia
North across Drake Passage, we're treated to graceful displays by prions, petrels and majestic albatross. Once we've rounded Cape Horn, we recap our many experiences with shipboard friends. BLD all days
Day 17. Ushuaia
After an early breakfast we land and bid farewell to our guests. Thus ends an incredible and unique expedition.

KAYAKING
Kayaking in the far-flung corners of the world is an experience guaranteed to refresh your soul. Led by experienced guides, paddling in small groups allow us easy and intimate access to beautiful coastlines in some of the world's most remote destinations. Viewing wildlife from a kayak has many advantages, with our quiet presence allowing us to get closer to animals while still keeping a comfortable distance from them. If you wish to take this option, please advise us at the time of booking.
SOUTH GEORGIA TRAVERSE
On one of our South Georgia voyages, a small band of adventurous souls will attempt to repeat the epic crossing of Ernest Shackleton and trek for up to three days from King Haakon Bay to Stromness. The crossing distance is 35 to 50 kilometres depending on the route, and involves crossing large, heavily crevassed glaciers and alpine passes. Experience in crevassed alpine terrain is essential.
