Fly In - South Georgia and the Peninsula
Trip Code: AURFIGP

Santiago - Port Stanley (FLY IN) - Antarctica - Ushuaia

We are delighted to be introducing a fly and sail option on five new voyages to the Antarctic Peninsula and South Georgia, departing or returning from King George Island in the South Shetland Islands or Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands. Flights depart from either Punta Arenas or Santiago, this will cut out the Drake Passage crossing, allowing passengers the opportunity of an in-depth exploration of the Antarctic Peninsula with a shorter overall trip.

Remote and untamed, Antarctica is a wildlife paradise and adventurer's playground. Those privileged to visit feel nature's power, both in her storms and stunning beauty. Shackleton and Nordenskjold left a legacy of epic survival tales, scientific discoveries and historical sites. Like them, going south is possibly the greatest experience of our lives.

Whether flying from Punta Arenas or embarking Polar Pioneer in Ushuaia, Argentina, our small ship carries us to a paradise of ice-clad mountains, islands raucous with wild animals and comfortable passage through a glorious maze of sheltered channels and inlets. We'll visit a unique continent, where penguins are curious, not afraid; seal pups sniff our gumboots and the cycle of life is on show. Cruising in Zodiacs, we might encounter spy-hopping humpbacks, slinky minkes or a leopard seal's disquieting smile.

Talking about the end of the world is talking about Ushuaia. This is the southernmost city on the planet. Due to its location near the South Pole, it has approximately eighteen hours of sunlight in the summer, whereas in the winter, it only has seven or eight. But this does not prevent tourists from visiting it once and again.

In the Yamana tongue, "Ushuaia" means "bay looking onto the West". Situated on the shores of the vast Beagle Channel, this beautiful city offers sceneries second to none. The forests, the mountains, the sea, the glaciers and the wind dominate the landscape. The city is surrounded by Mount Martial to the West and by Mounts Olivia and Cinco Hermanos to the East.

The inventiveness of its dwellers has helped them become adapted to its whimsical geography. The modern buildings and typical constructions of these latitudes give shape to an extremely picturesque and colorful city in the eye of all visitors.

Its gastronomic and accommodation infrastructure meets all expectations. It welcomes thousands of international visitors that reach Ushuaia lured by the slogan "reach the end of the world".

Spend a day or two before your cruise exploring Ushuaia.

Note: On voyage 2 (20 days) we spend an extra day on South Georgia.
