Day 2. Quito - Papallacta
It is the Andean mountains that dominate Ecuador and today we travel through these ever growing peaks to take advantage of a mountain range - volcanic activity resulting in Hot Springs!
It's not surprising that along the volcanic areas of the Andes from Panama to the tip of Patagonia, South America has thousands of hot springs. Hot springs, or thermal springs, and geysers are associated with volcanic activity and recently formed, hot, igneous rocks.
Termas de Papallacta are the most famous in Ecuador, offering mineral, crystalline, hyper thermal, hyper tonic, sulfate, alkaline terreous waters, volcanic in origin as well as clear. Massage and aroma therapy services.
A sign on the left-hand side of the road to Baeza, a few kilometers past the Laguna Papallacta, points you up a dirt track to these, the finest set of developed hot springs in Ecuador. Nestled in a steep alpine valley at 3, 225 meters, the springs attract crowds of Quitenos on weekends. It's hard to beat the combination of steaming water and dripping cloud forest, especially after a hike among the lakes.
Enjoy the scenery and soak up the healing and soothing minerals of one of the many hot springs before relaxing int he Adnean night air. BLD
Day 3. Papallacta - Quito
A last chance to enjoy the thermal waters before we return to Quito. It is the Andean Mountains that dominate Ecuador and today we travel through these ever growing peaks to take advantage of the mountain range with its volcanic activity resulting in Hot Springs just enjoyed. You are transferred to Quito where you can extend your journey to the Galapagos Islands. B
