Quito - Papallacta Hot Springs - Quito

Nestled in a long, narrow valley between the lush base of the Volcano Pichincha to the west and the precipitous canyon of the river Machangara to the east, Quito enjoys an unmatched natural setting. At night, from above, Quito is an oasis of lights against the absolute blackness of the forested mountains and the volcanoes that surround it. By day the city is equally as impressive. Quito's classic architecture and modern structures work with the timber and vegetation that ring them to produce South America's most beautiful capital city.

Perched on a high Andean valley at the entrance route to the Ecuadorian Amazon jungle, the Papallacta Hot Spring spa - resort offers its visitors health, recreation, adventure and rest. Whether relaxing in the thermal baths, indulging in pampering spa treatments, or embarking on adventure walks at the Rancho del Canon (Canyon Ranch) or Cayambe-Coca Ecological Reserve, you are sure to enjoy the Papallacta experience.

Day 2. Quito - Papallacta - Quito

It is the Andean mountains that dominate Ecuador and today we travel through these ever growing peaks to take advantage of a mountain range - volcanic activity resulting in Hot Springs!

It's not surprising that along the volcanic areas of the Andes from Panama to the tip of Patagonia, South America has thousands of hot springs. Hot springs, or thermal springs, and geysers are associated with volcanic activity and recently formed, hot, igneous rocks.

Termas de Papallacta are the most famous in Ecuador, offering mineral, crystalline, hyper thermal, hyper tonic, sulfate, alkaline terreous waters, volcanic in origin as well as clear. Massage and aroma therapy services.

A sign on the left-hand side of the road to Baeza, a few kilometers past the Laguna Papallacta, points you up a dirt track to these, the finest set of developed hot springs in Ecuador. Nestled in a steep alpine valley at 3,225 meters, the springs attract crowds of Quitenos on weekends. It's hard to beat the combination of steaming water and dripping cloud forest, especially after a hike among the lakes.

Enjoy the scenery and soak up the healing and soothing minerals of one of the many hot springs before returning to Quito for dinner and a cold beer! B

Day 3. Quito

Transfer to the airport for your flight home or extend your stay in Quito and surrounds or in the magical Galapagos Islands. B
